🚨🇬🇧 This makes me sick to my stomach. An African student nurse in Belfast is in tears after losing most of her possessions when a mob burned down her home. She came here to care for people. She works in her community. She contributes. The men who terrorised her neighbourhood, forced families to flee, and set homes alight contribute nothing but fear, hatred and destruction. For years, figures like Tommy Robinson, Nigel Farage, Richard Lowe and others have told people that immigrants are a threat, that they’re being replaced, that their country is being taken from them. This is where that rhetoric leads. No, they didn’t start the fires themselves. But they helped create the climate in which people do. A nurse is homeless tonight because violent fascists decided she didn’t belong. The instigators who spend their days stoking anger while sitting safely behind microphones and cameras should be held accountable too.
