Back in the 1980s the construction industry were cutting corners with fire safety and making fun of the dangerous culture of corner cutting that existed. This revealing clip from a documentary back then shows it all. We are still seeing the same culture today with over 20 full building evacuations due to fire safety defects and up to 1.7million innocent people exposed to potentially ruinous fire safety remediation costs when it should be the construction industry that pays. This is why the government has to implement the Earl of Lytton's buildingsafetyscheme.org by Christmas. Permanent consumer protection for blocks of flats rescuing all those with remediation bills now and in the future. @ukcag To be absolutely clear, we are not promising answers or a way to directly claim any compensation at this stage. We plan to offer a variety of ways leaseholders can ensure they have the best chance of a claim in the future - which we will communicate when appropriate.
