if you mean "voltage" then no, the brain doesn't change how voltage works. It DOES change how a neuron response to voltage, what voltage is sent to the neuron, how much voltage is required to spike, how frequently a neuron can spike, and which neurons receive the voltage from that spike.

Yes; I agree with the first part, conceptually. But that's not the entire construct. They also change, die, adjust sensitivity reactively, dynamically connect to one another, etc. An LLMs matmul doesn't change and when it does, it is done by an external system — a neuron's firing values, connections, and "parameters" do.
They don't though? By self-organization I mean /literally/ organizing oneself. LLMs a: do not develop new encoding layers or rearrange the existing layers during training. and b: do not do so intrinsically, this is done by an external function making modifications to the system, not by the system itself. By signaling, I mean the ability to communicate unidirectionally and without explicit linkage. by modification I mean that the act of sending a signal modifies the signal. Moving a value from one decoder layer to the next doesnt actually change the value in any way.
Correct; I never said that you need the exact implementation details of the brain. What I said is that LLMs are incapable of achieving the right implementation because they lack the fundamental features required to have it. Self-organization, signaling, signal modification intrinsic to the structure itself, etc.
Alright: knoweldge is a first order consequence of the specific configuration of neurons and synapses, their pattern of firing, timings, etc. That's what it is to "know" something, it is structurally built into your brains wiring. Qualia is a second order consequence of this; your personal/subjective experience is a result of this unique configuration, that's why your 'red' and someone elses 'red' aren't the same. "red" in your brain is wired a particular way, that is unique to your brains configuration. Everything about knowledge, intelligence, and qualia are explicitly a consequence of the actual structural implementation of how your brain is configured. Ergo, implementation is the only thing that matters, not the principle.
