Trump may have claimed that a deal with Iran has already been agreed and that a signing ceremony could take place in Europe. However, Iranian state media has rejected those reports. If Iran does eventually agree to a deal as claimed by Trump, it would not be good optics for Tehran, given that it comes just days after the United States bombed Iranian targets. The perception would be that Iran succumbed to American pressure. That is why the manner and timing of any agreement will be crucial. Iran is certainly not opposed to a deal but it would want any agreement to be presented in a way that does not project weakness or suggest it negotiated under duress. So, let see what happens now!
Iranian media claims Tehran’s return to negotiations was not driven by Trump’s threats. Instead, they say Iran came back to the table after Trump agreed to revert to the original draft agreement, following U.S. changes that had previously derailed the deal.
