Are your EMF shielding materials not lowering your meter readings the way you expected? That does not always mean the material isn't effective. It may mean there are additional sources your current setup hasn't addressed. For example, RF signals can come through a window, wall, ceiling, floor, shared wall, or nearby device. In some cases, another source may even be inside the room, such as a router, cordless phone, smart device, or other wireless equipment. Shielding works best when it matches the actual source and direction of the signal. Before adding more shielding, it helps to check: - Where is the strongest reading coming from? - Is the source inside or outside the room? - Is the field coming through a wall, window, ceiling, or floor? - Is there an unshielded path it can still travel through? - Did the meter reading change after making adjustments? The goal is shield the right areas, with the proper materials, and verify the result with a meter. Need help choosing the right EMF shielding products for your situation? Your body does its most important repair work during sleep. The environment around you while you sleep matters more than most people realize... The Dream Canopy creates a low-EMF sleeping zone using the same principle that protects MRI rooms and military equipment — a Faraday enclosure. The physics is straightforward. When RF radiation hits the mesh from any direction — your neighbor's Wi-Fi, the cell tower a block away, your smart meter — the specialized material reflects it before it reaches you. Inside the canopy, your exposure to this radiation drops more than 99%. Available in Twin/Crib and Full/Queen/King size. The dark gray mesh complements any décor. Air circulates freely and natural light passes through. Happy to answer fit, installation, or shielding questions if you've got them! Check out the Dream Canopy here: lessemf.com/product/dream-…

A cell phone is, by a wide margin, the closest sustained source of RF exposure most people will ever have. It rides against your hip for hours a day. It works harder when signal is weak. It transmits even when idle. Unlike a router or a smart meter, you can't just walk away from it — most people need their phone within reach to get through the day. The good news: this is one of the most solvable EMF problems you have. A few practical options, in roughly the order of how easy they are: → Don't carry the phone in a front pocket. Front pockets put RF in direct contact with reproductive tissue. Use a back pocket, a jacket, or a bag. → Switch to airplane mode when you don't need connectivity. This eliminates RF transmission entirely. Most people use airplane mode zero hours a day. Even an hour or two adds up. → Keep the phone away from your head during calls. Speakerphone or wired earbuds beat holding the device against your skull. → Use a shielding phone pouch when carrying it on you. This is the option most people skip because they don't know it exists. A shielding phone pouch is exactly what it sounds like — a fabric carrying case with conductive material woven through it. When the phone is inside, the fabric attenuates RF on the side facing your body while leaving an opening on the other side so the phone can still receive signal. The result: dramatically less exposure to your hip, thigh, or torso, while the phone still rings, still gets calls, still works. The Phone Purse is built for this. The shielded compartment is sized to fit modern smartphones with cases. The shoulder strap puts the phone away from your body rather than against it. And because the shielded side faces inward toward you, you get the protection without losing connectivity. I'll kick it off — smart speakers like the Amazon Alexa for me. The device literally designed to listen, owned by a company that's admitted employees review recordings. EMF exposure is just the cherry on top. What's yours?
Pick one. Which of these devices do you trust the LEAST? Not just the EMF exposure — think digital privacy too. The built-in microphones, the internet monitoring, the habit tracking — every device in this list is quietly learning everything about you and sending it to your Internet Service Provider, Amazon, Google, and whoever else they decide to sell it to. ☐ Your WiFi Router ☐ Your smartwatch ☐ Alexa / Google Home / smart speakers ☐ Bluetooth earbuds ☐ Your smart meter Vote in the comments.
Your smart meter is becoming a dedicated 5G cellular device — equipped with its own SIM card. The industry calls it "AMI 2.0." The next generation of smart meters integrates cellular connectivity directly into the meter itself. T-Mobile, Ericsson, and major meter manufacturers have published 2025 materials describing a transition where smart meters become dedicated 5G/LTE endpoints — each with its own eSIM, each with a direct, always-on connection to the cellular network. Older smart meters (circa 2012) transmitted data in short bursts using mesh networks — meter to meter to utility. The new architecture is different: each meter has its own persistent cellular link and streams data continuously to the grid. In the industry's own words, this enables "near real-time" transmission. For historical context: in 2011, Pacific Gas & Electric disclosed under oath to California regulators (Application 11-03-014) that their smart meters could transmit up to 190,000 times per day. That was the pulse-based architecture. The new architecture doesn't pulse — it streams. Most utility customer communications still describe the hardware using words like "brief" and "intermittent." That framing was loosely accurate for 2012 hardware. It's becoming progressively less accurate with each new deployment. Meanwhile, a peer-reviewed modeling study (Qureshi et al., 2018) found children show consistently higher RF absorption from smart meter exposure than adults. And the March 2026 paper in Environmental Health (Melnick & Moskowitz) concluded current wireless radiation limits are 200 times too high to protect against cancer risk — and explicitly included smart meters. The device on your wall used to be a specialized pulse transmitter. It's becoming a full cellular device. The exposure pattern is changing accordingly. An RF meter will show you exactly what your specific meter is transmitting — including whether it has shifted to continuous mode. Shielding options also exist for the wall behind it. Both can be found at For expert help with choosing the right products, call 518-608-6479 or email [email protected]
Earth Day turns 56 today — and it’s a reminder of how much progress is possible. Cleaner waterways, greater awareness, and meaningful strides in reducing pollutants all show what can happen when people take notice. But there’s still an environmental shift that rarely enters the Earth Day conversation — increased EMF pollution. The background RF radiation level in most inhabited areas is now roughly 10 billion times higher than it was in 1960. That's not a metaphor — it's a measured physical change to the planet's electromagnetic environment, happening within a single human lifetime. Every species on Earth evolved in a radio-quiet environment. None of them were consulted about the change. What the research has found: → Migratory birds use magnetoreception to navigate. Artificial electromagnetic fields disrupt that system. North American bird populations have dropped 30% since 1970. → Bees use the Earth's magnetic field for orientation. Anthropogenic EMF has been identified as a potential contributing factor in colony collapse disorder. → Trees near cell towers show asymmetric dieback — consistently, across species, across continents. → Amphibians show reproductive disruption at RF levels below current regulatory limits. The environmental movement has been remarkably effective at addressing pollutants you can see, smell, or test in a water sample. Electromagnetic pollution is invisible, odorless, and requires specialized equipment to measure. It gets less attention for exactly the reason it deserves more: the public can't perceive it directly. If you care about the planet enough to carry a reusable bottle and compost your food scraps, the electromagnetic environment is worth adding to your list. Reducing your household's wireless footprint is a small act. Happy Earth Day. → For the people who want to measure what's in their own environment: lessemf.com/product-catego… carries meters that let you see what the planet is actually contending with.
Wireless Bluetooth earbuds became ubiquitous overnight. The long-term brain research is just getting started — and it isn't reassuring... Bluetooth operates at 2.4 GHz, the same frequency band as Wi-Fi. And unlike a phone held a few inches from your head, wireless earbuds and over-ear headphones sit directly against your ear canal — millimeters from brain tissue — for hours at a stretch. That proximity changes the equation significantly. The closer a source is to tissue, the more of its output is absorbed — which means the physical placement of headphones inside or against the ear creates a sustained, direct-contact exposure pattern. This matters because the research on long-term, low-level RF exposure and neurological health is developing — and not in a reassuring direction. Studies have found altered brain wave patterns, changes in blood-brain barrier permeability, and neurodegenerative markers in subjects with sustained RF exposure. Although this research wasn’t done with Bluetooth headsets specifically, the frequencies are the same, the tissue target is the same, and the daily duration of exposure is significantly longer for most headphone users. Bluetooth headphones are worn directly against the brain for hours at a time — often all day, across back-to-back listening sessions, calls, and workouts. That pattern of sustained, close-proximity exposure to brain tissue is relatively new, largely unstudied, and worth taking seriously before the research catches up. The simplest response is also the oldest one: wired headphones. Same sound quality — often better. Zero RF emission during use. An easy switch for long listening sessions where the wireless convenience isn't adding much anyway. Visit lessemf.com/product/ibrain… for EMF free headphones.
Your phone doesn't sleep just because you do. Even idle, it's pinging towers, chatting with Wi-Fi, and pulling notifications all night long — right next to your head. Simple fix: airplane mode before bed. It kills the cellular, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth transmissions in one tap. No signal out, no signal in. Your alarm still works. Want to go a step further? Drop it in a Goodnight Bag — our RF shielding pouch that blocks more than 99.99% of the RF your phone puts out. Perfect for nightstands, travel, or anyone who forgets to hit airplane mode (we've all been there). Check out the Goodnight Bag Here: lessemf.com/product/goodni…
A study published this month in the peer-reviewed journal Environmental Health is drawing significant attention from scientists and public health advocates — and it's worth understanding. The researchers — a retired senior toxicologist from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences and a professor at UC Berkeley's School of Public Health — applied standard EPA risk-assessment methods to data from the U.S. National Toxicology Program's $30 million cell phone radiation study. This is the same methodology regulators use for pesticides, industrial chemicals, and other environmental carcinogens. Their finding: Current public exposure limits for wireless radiation would need to be reduced by at least 200 times to meet an acceptable cancer risk threshold of 1 in 100,000. The same limits were found to be 8–24 times too high to protect against male reproductive harm — decreased sperm count, vitality, and testosterone levels. "Current regulatory limits for RFR are based on outdated assumptions that have been thoroughly invalidated by the last thirty years of scientific research," said the study's lead author. The FCC's wireless exposure limits, notably, haven't been updated since 1996. What makes this study particularly significant is its methodology: the researchers didn't introduce new data or make new claims about health effects. They took existing government-funded research and applied the standard risk-assessment tools that regulators use for every other environmental hazard — tools that, inexplicably, have never been applied to wireless radiation before. The practical response to this kind of research isn't panic — it's precaution. Reducing unnecessary exposure where it's easy to do so is the same reasonable step it's always been, now with stronger justification. While the world chased wireless… the cable just kept working. No noise. No interference. No dropouts. They called it outdated. A relic of the old internet. Meanwhile, it waited in the drawer — ready. Ready to deliver maximum speed, minimal latency, and zero RF emissions the moment you plugged it back in. The greatest comeback in networking history isn't a new protocol or a faster router. It's the cable that was right all along — faster, cleaner, and now shielded to block RF pickup along the run and keep your connection clean end to end. Skip the interference. Skip the radiation. Plug back into what always worked. Shielded Ethernet Cables — Only at lessemf.com/product/shield…
There's a type of EMF in your walls most people have never heard of... Most conversations about EMF focus on two categories: High frequency RF radiation from wireless devices, and low frequency Electric+Magnetic fields from power lines and wiring. There's a third category that gets far less attention but affects many households: Dirty Electricity. What it is: Standard electrical wiring in North America carries 60 Hz AC power. Dirty electricity refers to high-frequency voltage transients — erratic spikes and surges of electrical energy — that ride on top of that standard current. These transients typically range from a few kilohertz to several hundred kilohertz. Where it comes from: Modern electronics are a primary source. Switching power supplies in computers, phone chargers, LED dimmer switches, variable-speed motors, solar inverters, and smart appliances all introduce high-frequency noise onto the electrical lines. As homes have filled with these devices, dirty electricity levels have increased significantly. Why it matters: Unlike RF, dirty electricity travels through the wiring itself and radiates from outlets, cords, and electrical panels. Some researchers have found associations between elevated dirty electricity levels and symptoms including fatigue, headaches, and difficulty concentrating. People who experience EHS frequently report sensitivity to environments with high dirty electricity. How to detect it: A standard RF or Gauss meter won't show dirty electricity. You need a specific dirty electricity meter — also called a line noise meter or Graham-Stetzer meter — that measures high-frequency transients on the electrical line. How to reduce it: Filters that plug into outlets address the high-frequency transients before they spread through the wiring. Identifying and replacing the worst-offending devices — often older dimmer switches and certain chargers — also helps significantly. If you've addressed RF and ELF and are still experiencing issues, dirty elec ricity is worth investigating. Check out our recommended solutions for Dirty Electricity here: lessemf.com/product-catego…
