Yeah, it's a similar thing in security you can say as well. Private disclosures are now kinda just dead if an LLM can find it after dropping 1k tokens and an hour of waiting. Companies definitely are going to have to adapt fast enough for the job market. Which at least afaict, that doesn't seem to be the case.
Yeah, though at least that foundation helps us now to use these tools better than purely vibing it up. Based on the current rate, I'd assume by the time Gen A is my age, that a purely vibed up piece of software wouldn't be as insane as it is now. Albeit, we still have many years until then but the future is always uncertain. We definitely will have to see how it goes from here.
Yeah, both are things that OSS folks have not always been keen on in the past. AI is definitely going to raise some tension there. There will also be the diehard puritans who'll believe AI should never exist for code. Which is respectable in some areas but ignorant in others. In general, the Internet will remain the Internet and always have bad actors and people who don't want to be constructive.
Trying to avoid AI code 3 or 4 years ago wasn't a bad idea. But now, these models have gotten good enough and the tech has evolved to the point that they can do a lot. I see why a lot of people are using it. Though, I do see why people would want to avoid AI gen code. I think as usual, a lot of it is a misunderstanding.
I feel a bit called out on that last sentence since I am in my mid 20's...
It's been brewing for a while. As a LEGO fan, it's really been disappointing. I remember seeing a BAM store open near where my cousins lived years ago, back when I lived in Oregon. Wild that this entire situation started from a BAM store not too far away from where I grew up.
But this company has had a lot of times to do the right thing, yet they've doubled down and continue to do the opposite of what's right. I'm really hoping the LEGO group and the government steps in here.
