1/The man pledging transparency is Kevin Guskiewicz, the direct beneficiary of a secret process. He's a DEI champion now safely ensconced at Clemson, in an alleged "red state." But he’s going to be transparent? While at MSU, Guskiewicz claims to have met with legislators to defend his university DEI policies and “enlist them for help on messaging around the [DEI] issue amid the Trump administration's hostility toward the programs.” “messaging around…” Does this sound like a man committed to transparency? Or does it sound like someone skilled in circumventing it?

4/ Only citizens have the power to demand that action is taken against universities bent on instilling progressive ideology in our students, the next generation of voters. We can't expect change without grassroots pressure. Without it, we can expect more of the same.

3/ Guskiewicz won’t face many hurdles. SC has no comprehensive anti-CRT/strong DEI ban in universities, no permanent standalone law fully prohibiting DEI offices, mandatory trainings, or progressive curricula in public higher ed (unlike some red states). Budget provisos curb some activity. Conservatives propose many bills, but with limited success in stopping 'woke.' Federal law blocks some funding, but rebranding is a proven workaround that has allowed continued funding in many cases.

Where was your leadership during years of uninterrupted, still ongoing “woke” curriculum at UofSC, Clemson, and even K-12? The “conservative voices” that you continue to ignore belong to voters and parents whose children are being socially programmed with progressive ideology through state education. Only after a personal snub did you seize on the weakest, most superficial manifestation and only as campaign propaganda and an idle threat.

South Carolina's universities suffer from this, too, and need oversight and correction. University research can't be objective and meet the highest standards when progressive values demand adherence to semi-religious social justice beliefs. University programs that deny fundamental biological truth, shun economic reality, embrace debunked "climate change" dogma, encourage social welfare expansion and citizen dependency don't represent our state well. Taxpayers shouldn't fund this.

I documented the sharp leftward shift in academia several years ago, along with its accompanying decline in research standards. The Vanderbilt report is welcome, but it's also simply confirmation of what was already obvious (although adamantly denied by many faculty on the left)

I think it's unfair to portray joint appearances as support and, where there are statements of support, it's worth considering why one might go with Pascoe over long-term GOP candidates with pro-establishment or anti-Freedom Caucus records. It seems the candidates are faced with the same Sophie's Choice that voters face.

I don't know for sure, but the answer may lie in Stumbo's and Goldfinch's past legislative voting records (and personal interactions, opposition) vis-a-vis SC Freedom Caucus. I know FC-supporting conservatives who are throwing in with Pascoe as the "least bad" option, based primarily on the other candidates' establishment histories against MAGA/populist issues. Not saying that overrides Pascoe's own issues, but it's something to consider.

SC Freedom of Information Act wording doesn't demand a deadline for release of information, so many universities interpret the law to mean they can wait until after making their selection. K-12 has the power to do the same thing. @SCFreedomCaucus
