This is why theism is a grand framework. It accommodates the questions of purpose (why) and mechanics (how). Even though the questions of purpose are given primal importance, theism does not disavow the natural order of things in how it relates the world.

Hardly will one encounter an espousal of critical thinking from a neutralist/disinterested standpoint. Every blabber or rigmaroling about critical thinking is usually an implicit expression of support for a worldview or standpoint that is merely asserted as more probable than others. I, myself, am a guilty partaker of this seemingly innocent dishonesty. In simple terms, when a modernist says "think critically", they seem to be saying "think in a way that leads you to my own conclusions".

I've seen more pro-lifers who think there are morally viable reasons for an abortion no matter how slim than I have seen pro-choicers who think there must be a moral reason for an abortion to be valid. For a pro-choicer, anything warrants an abortion, there's no limit. This is why I think of arguments from diagnosed disability being utilized by pro-choicers as fortuitous instances of confirmation bias, not honest cases for them. As a pro-lifer myself, I think abortions must be unfortunate necessities or unavoidable courses of action to be morally justified. An abortion proposed to secure a woman's lifestyle, or as a solution to disability, or for anything that does not brutally necessitate it is evil.

I'm undecided on polygamy and gambling. I'm unsure what guiding moral basis they're frustrating. Gambling seems more prudential than moral. It crosses over into the moral domain if the stake involved requires an evil like say causing your family to starve to secure a spot in the game.

This is the horrific idea that besets a fully secular mind. They are almost incapable of recognising the privilege of the rational form against a purely instinctual one. A weird thing the contemporary world is that the average secular person is very confident they have a rational and scientific worldview, yet they have tons of beliefs that are sort of very obviously mystical or “woo”. But this doesn’t register to them at all.

The hubris, so splendidly displayed here, casts a shadow of doubt against the intellectual grip of the OP. In order to dismiss philosophy, you have to, *check notes*, use philosophy. You failed to realise that you're merely espousing one order of philosophy, namely empiricism, against another, namely rationalism. The blow against Locke's philosophy was a blow against a form of empiricism. Such a blow has Platonic implication (biological Platonism if you will) but that would be a detour from the point. Empiricism needs arguments and philosophical defense. If we agree that experiential context differs across species, then we must realize that there is an intractable axiological contention concerning the diverging experiences. To explain, why should I favour a human's experience of the world over a dog's such that it forms my outlook on the world beyond the bias rooted in being a human myself? Dismissing philosophy is a fool's errand, whether you're empiricist or not.

It’s not irrelevant. Locke, for example, was fully on tabula rasa. He built lots of philosophical takes on it. That turned to be wrong later on. This current aborting DS debate, given context, is empirically grounded. You trying to philosophize it, is irrelevant to me. Evolve.
